Catherine Gaussen is available at both North Adelaide and Glenelg 

Catherine believes that the relationship between a psychologist and client is central to effective therapy and attaining desired outcomes. She is collaborative, non-judgemental and compassionate, and works in partnership with her clients to build their self-awareness, enhance confidence and facilitate a sense of direction on the road to achieving clients’ long-term fulfillment.

Catherine has worked therapeutically in private, university, community and government settings in Sydney, NSW prior to her move to Attuned Psychology in Adelaide. This has generated a diverse knowledge base and skillset which enables effective treatment for a variety of individual needs across the lifespan and cross-culturally. Catherine is committed to supporting people to engage fully in a valued and meaningful life. She takes great care to provide an approachable and flexible therapeutic experience that is tailored to suit the unique needs of each client.

Catherine works with children, adolescents and adults for varying therapeutic needs and has worked with a diverse range of clients.

This will help to establish a clear agenda, setting the foundation for effective therapy that meets your needs over time. She will also seek to give you practical strategies and insights to assist you in finding a way forward to improve your wellbeing each step of the way.

Catherine Gaussen’s Therapeutic Approach

Catherine works from a strength-based, solutions-focused approach. She believes that trust and mutual respect are fundamental aspects of the therapeutic relationship. She understands that clients are experts regarding their own lives, which informs her collaborative and flexible approach to working with clients to help them meet their unique needs.

Like all of our clinicians, Catherine is skilled at considering both evidence-based practice and client preferences when utilising treatment approaches. She has training in a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Integrated CBT, Trauma-Informed CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Integrated Family Intervention for Child Conduct Problems.
