Hello! I’m Kate and thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I’m originally from Victoria but I have lived in Adelaide since 2019. I’ve spent the last 10+ years working mostly with young people and their families in Mental Health services.

I’ve been fortunate to gain experience working with a wide variety of presentations from severe and complex mental health needs, through to adjustment difficulties.

A lot of my work history includes working with clients who have had negative experiences seeking mental health support in the past, and on creating a positive therapeutic experience so that this pattern doesn’t continue.

I work mostly on identifying and adjusting unhelpful thoughts and life patterns that are perpetuating people’s struggles with their mental health. My ultimate goal in working with you is to help you understand why and how your difficulties have developed, identify and implement the right skills to help you overcome these, and to support you to get to a place where you feel like you can navigate these struggles independently.

I have a calm and welcoming nature and I always work hard to ensure you feel safe with me and in the therapy room so that we can work through your challenges together. You’ll often see me smiling or showing my excitement when you tell me the latest fear or obstacle you’ve overcome. With each appointment, I will aim to ensure that you leave with a new understanding or a new skill to use in order to overcome your mental health challenges.

I consult at North Adelaide on Mondays through to Fridays during business hours. I also offer after hours appointments on Wednesday evenings.

Special Areas of Interest

My main interest areas are working with people who suffer from Anxiety disorders, or perfectionistic tendencies. Often, people can present with Anxiety and Depression from setting incredibly high standards for themselves, and then feel defeated when they are unable to meet these standards. By exploring how Anxiety or perfectionistic tendencies have developed, we can then begin to explore how particular thoughts and behaviours worsen these symptoms and develop a plan on how to reduce these so that you can live a more fulfilling life.

I also have a strong interest in supporting people to overcome Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I use Cognitive Processing Therapy to help unpack the thoughts that are getting you stuck in recovering from your trauma, and teach you the skills to adjust these thought processes.
