ADHD and Behavioural Issues
Is your child showing signs of ADHD, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, in their behaviour?
Would you say they simply are not complying with or following your instructions and having trouble accepting the situation when things don’t go their way?
In Adelaide, Attuned Psychology helps families understand and manage ADHD and behavioural issues in children.
Early childhood ADHD and behavioural problems
We have worked with parents experiencing a range of behavioural issues in their children.
Commonly, these parents tell us their child seems demanding or shows a need to control their surroundings, often arising from a need to feel a sense of predictability and safety.
In our experience, these issues will commonly manifest in early childhood as your child has difficulty learning to follow your lead or instruction.
In these situations, your child can also need time to adjust once they are in broader settings such as kindergarten or school where there are different rules and expectations.
Understanding and managing behaviour
When you choose to work with our team of child psychologists, we will explain how behavioural issues are often linked with difficulties in emotional regulation.
You will also learn how much undesirable behaviour stems from your child not having grasped socially acceptable ways of managing their emotional responses yet.
So, our results-focussed therapy will start by working on emotional regulation, and then move on to identifying ways your child can better manage.
