My name is Yolanda. I love working at Attuned Psychology because it is a practice that believes in working with you as a team to become the best version of yourself. It is a true privilege to help you to achieve your therapeutic goals.
My ten years in mental health Social Work practice has taught me to place the therapeutic relationship at the centre of my practice and work collaboratively with you to apply the most effective approach to your situation. I am therefore skilled in a number of evidence based therapeutic modalities. Together we explore the circumstances that surround you and how you can manage them most effectively. Because of my extensive experience of working in culturally diverse communities I place emotional safety at the centre of my practice and can promise an approach that makes you feel safe.
At the end of the day, therapy is about your unique social context in the world. For this reason my approach is compassionate and direct. Especially when managing trauma, I believe in a gentle approach that emphasises meeting you where you are and steadily moving toward healing in a way that allows you to manage the discomfort of difficult emotions. When working with children, I tend to make therapy fun, strengths based and interactive. My goal is for the whole family to see improvement and to be able to celebrate a win for that young person.
I have extensive experience working with survivors of trauma and grief as well as children and families experiencing intergenerational trauma. I have worked for a number of NGO’s with people who have experienced Childhood Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence. I have worked for a number of years with Adolescents and young adults in a public health setting and also have extensive experience in crisis mental health and triage. As such I am skilled in a number several modalities including Acceptance and Commitment therapy, mindfulness, CBT, DBT and single session crisis work.
I consult at North Adelaide on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays offering business hours and after hours appointments on Wednesday
