Independent Consultant

The Brain Therapy Centre Pty Ltd ABN: 96 612 213 117

I practise at our North Adelaide rooms on Mondays during business hours providing therapy services. I am accepting new clients for face-to-face and Telehealth appointments. Please contact the Practice on (08) 8361 7008 to confirm my current availability.

I have been practising psychology for over 25 years in a variety of settings. I started my psychology career in the public sector in the areas of organisational and cultural change processes, best practice recruitment and selection, career counselling and team development. I also provided consulting to address behaviour management and build resilience in the workplace and was also involved in social research and training and development.

After 20 years in those areas, I changed my focus to a field of psychology that is strongly aligned to my values and interests and that is working with children, their parents and teachers, in addition to adults. My goal is to help them get to know and understand themselves and their challenges, in order to be able to meet their full potential in education and life.

Therapy

As a therapist, I am committed to fostering a supportive and collaborative environment where clients feel safe, heard, and understood. Whether you’re seeking clarity on educational concerns, a better understanding of ADHD, or guidance through personal challenges, I can provide skilled support tailored to your unique needs. I am comfortable seeing children, adolescents and adults.

Assessments

I have worked extensively in the provision of comprehensive educational assessments designed to help identify learning disabilities and provide strategies to support academic success. With a personalised approach, I work with students, parents, and teachers to ensure that every individual receives the tailored assessment and support they need to support them to thrive academically.

In addition to educational assessments, I am also highly experienced in conducting ADHD assessments. I work with both children and adults to assess for ADHD. My approach combines thorough assessment methods with a strong understanding of how ADHD affects everyday life, helping clients and their parents gain clarity and confidence in managing the condition and provides recommendations for effective treatment plans aimed at managing the symptoms of ADHD.

Therapeutic Approach

I employ a mix of evidence-based techniques including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). CBT is a highly effective, structured therapy that helps individuals identify and reframe negative thought patterns, leading to lasting behavioural change. ACT helps individuals develop psychological flexibility by encouraging acceptance of thoughts and feelings, while committing to actions aligned with their values. Solution-Focused Therapy, on the other hand, is a strengths-based approach that empowers individuals to build solutions, focus on their goals, and create positive change in their lives.

I am committed to fostering a supportive and collaborative environment where clients feel safe, heard, and understood. Whether you’re seeking support and assistance with anxiety, depression, life changes, support to navigate the challenges associated with ADHD and/or autism, or guidance through other personal challenges, I can provide skilled support tailored to your unique needs. A more comprehensive list of concerns I can help you with is detailed below. I am comfortable seeing children, adolescents and adults.
