Hi, my name is Amanda Willemyns and I’m a Senior Psychologist at Attuned. I love my work, and see the client-practitioner alliance as being a sacred space. I have 27 years’ experience in the field working in clinical, government, corporate, and university sectors. My degrees in psychology include: a Bachelor degree with First Class Honours (University of Queensland), a Master’s degree (University of Queensland) and a doctoral degree (Queensland University of Technology). I have been in private practice since 2011 seeing clients face-to-face as well as telehealth via phone or video calls. Since 2022, I have been providing psychology services exclusively by telehealth, which is a convenient mode of delivery for many clients, including those with issues involving mobility/transport/a remote location or who are just time-stretched (no commuting!)

What is my approach to therapy? It can be described as collaborative and flexible. It draws on a solid evidence base and a range of psychological models: cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT); narrative therapy; motivational interviewing; mindfulness-based interventions; positive psychology; interpersonal therapy; brief, solution-focussed therapy; and person-centred therapy (Rogerian). My aim is to create a non-judgemental and empathic environment where clients feel comfortable to explore their issues as they progress towards greater self-awareness, functionality, performance, and wellbeing. I believe in a safe, supportive environment clients can often be empowered to find their own answers through greater clarity. However, I also believe that tools and strategies along the way are helpful!
