We hope this page is helpful and we look forward to talking with you, with appointments available during business hours and after hours including some Saturdays.
Developmental Issues
It is common for some children to take more time than others to develop emotional, behavioural or social skills. Our child psychologists can bring clarity and offer evidence-based guidance.
Identity
In psychology, the term “identity” is most commonly used to describe personal identity, or the distinctive qualities or traits that make an individual unique. Identities are strongly associated with self-concept, self-image (one’s mental model of oneself), self-esteem, and individuality.
Autism
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurological and developmental disorder that affects how people interact with others, communicate, learn, and behave. Although autism can be diagnosed at any age, it is described as a “developmental disorder” because symptoms generally appear in the first two years of life.
ADHD, ADD
Is your child showing signs of ADHD, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, in their behaviour? We help families understand and manage ADHD and behavioural issues in children.
Attachment Issues
Our work in separation anxiety, also known as attachment issues, is grounded in the understanding that your children need you to be their safe base.
Personality Disorders
A personality disorder refers to a long-term pattern of thinking, behaviour and emotion that is dysfunctional, extreme and inflexible. It causes distress and makes it difficult to function in everyday life.
LGBTQI
Collectively, LGBTQI+ people experience more mental health challenges than other Australians, not because of their sexuality, sex or gender identity, but because of the discrimination, prejudice and exclusion they face.
Gender Diversity
Gender Diversity refers to people with gender identities that do not coincide with their birth assigned sex. Examples include nonbinary, gender non-conforming, and transgender people.
Pain
Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage, and the role of psychology is supplemental to medicine.
Injury
A psychological injury arises from a traumatic event or physical injury, such abusive behavior, whistleblower retaliation, bullying, kidnapping, rape, motor vehicular collision or other negligent action.
Chronic Illness
A chronic illness is an illness that either has no cure or will last for a long time. Living with a chronic illness means having to adjust to the symptoms of the illness and the therapies used to treat the condition.
